What is the 2nd Act Film Project?
About 2nd Act
The 2nd Act Film project was founded in 2013 as a way to bring independent filmmakers in the midlands of South Carolina together under the umbrella of one project. It was formed out of comments overheard, negative experiences, and general frustrations of indie filmmaking experiences with film project style competitions.
2nd Act is a distinctive approach to collaborative independent filmmaking. Presented by The Jasper Project, its mission is to encourage and promote the growth of independent filmmaking in South Carolina through creative teamwork.
Filmmakers receive the 1st Act and the 3rd Act of a script (one page each). Their challenge is to write the 2nd Act and produce the film.
Filmmakers are not charged an entry fee and are given a $100 stipend to help offset the cost of producing their film.
All films will be screened on October 15th at the magnificent Harbison Theatre in Columbia, SC.
Participants’ level of filmmaking experience can range from beginner to professional. The project aims to bring together a diverse and highly creative group of voices that represent independent filmmaking across the state.
